Angela E. DeVito, DVM

Veterinarian, OwnerDr. DeVito is a 1986 graduate of Cornell University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. She grew up in Bayside, Queens, and moved to Garden City after high school. During college, Dr. DeVito worked as a veterinary assistant in this very hospital in which she now shares ownership. Dr. DeVito has served on the Executive Board of the Long Island Veterinary Medical Association and currently sits on the Board of the IACUC at Adelphi University. An avid birder, she helped establish the Garden City Bird Sanctuary in 1995. Dr. DeVito’s special interests include pocket-pet medicine and geriatric issues, and she likes to speak to children’s groups about veterinary medicine. Dr. DeVito lives with her husband, son and their pets still in Garden City. She is very proud to be the mother of a First Responder (firefighter).

Janice Goldberg, DVM

Veterinarian
Dr. Goldberg graduated veterinary school from Ross University and has been practicing in Queens and Long Island since graduation. She joined the West Hempstead staff full-time in 2005 after working with Dr. DeVito’s partners Dr. Halpern and Dr. Mehlrose for several years. Dr. Goldberg has special interests in dermatology and animal behavior. She also likes to indulge her interests in “Anime” and hand-made things at conventions and crafts fairs in the Metropolitan area. She lives in Queens with various assorted pets.

Dr. Leigh Anne Cutler

 

Dr. Leigh Anne Reed was born in Brooklyn and attended St. John’s University in Queens to obtain her undergraduate degree in Biology. She graduated from Cornell University’s School of Veterinary Medicine in 2004, and completed an internship at The Animal Medical Center in New York City. After 9 years of practicing medicine in hospitals in Red Bank, NJ and Manhattan, NY, she moved to Long Island, where she now lives with her husband, her children, and their pets.

Aisha Nielsen


Office Manager
Aisha Nielsen is a native of Long Island. She joined the West Hempstead staff as a receptionist in 2003, and was promoted to the job of Office Manager in 2007. Aisha has a love of cooking and of kitchen gadgetry, and has helped our staff to embrace the “Foodie” in us all. Aisha lives locally with her husband, her daughter and their cats.

Sara Passiglia


Sara is a Licensed Veterinary Technician, and is the head Technician at the West Hempstead Animal Hospital. She began working at this hospital while still in school, and thankfully has been here ever since! Sara not only takes care of our patients, but is a wife and mom as well.

Shenay is both a receptionist and a veterinary assistant here at our hospital.
She not only takes care of our pets, but our clients, too!

Mike has been with us since 2018, but has been in the veterinary field for much longer, and is working toward his Veterinary technician licence. When he isn’t caring for our patients, he likes to spend time with his family and their many cats and dogs.

Jasmine is a veterinary assistant that has recently joined the WHAH family. She’s been in the field for over five years and recently graduated from Suffolk Community College with Veterinary science technology. When she’s not working, she goes home and studies to earn her LVT license. She continues to learn from experiences in the hospital and works really well with the patients and clients! Her bright and colorful hair doesn’t even compare to her colorful and bright spirit!

Kay is a veterinary assistant that has recently joined the WHAH family. She graduated from BOCES Barry Tech in 2016 from the veterinary science program and continues her education at Penn Foster College. She is a most warm-hearted assistant and goes above and beyond. She is extremely attentive to the patients who are lucky to be seen by her and always encourages the clients interaction in the appointment to ensure the patient feels secure.

Amber is a whah receptionist, lover of dogs, cats and ferrets! She’s hard-working but always makes time to travel and support people living with I/DD. She’s been a part of the team since 2016 and continues to work with us throughout her school journey and always welcomes you with a warm smile.
